A storm door is a door that is installed outside of an exterior door. Add to the beauty of your home and save on energy costs during the winter or summer by adding a storm door to your home. Using a storm door makes so much sense, especially here in Las Vegas. There are so many days in the spring and fall when we do not need to use our air conditioning and a storm door could help the conditions inside your home. All you need to do to get fresh air into the home is to open the front door, and let the air flow through the storm door.
Most storm doors can be interchangeable too, where the door can easily be converted to screen for the summer months and glass for the winter. Storm doors can also be locked for safety purposes. Storm doors are an easy, low-cost home improvement. So think about adding a storm door, and improve the look of your home while increasing your energy savings!

Everyone can use more storage. Especially here in Southern Nevada and the Las Vegas Valley where houses are not built to include a basement, and the only storage we have is in our garage. Installing shelving and cabinets not only gives you so much more storage it gives you chance to organize your garage, and expand the efficiency and space of your home.
Here are a few handy tips that may help you do it yourself, or give Your Las Vegas Handyman a call, we would love to help:
• Make sure shelves or cabinets clear garage doors, garage door tracks and service doors.
• Keep cabinets and shelves above head level in foot traffic areas, and away from doors so you don’t bump into them.
• Remember to allow enough space between the ceiling and the shelving for tall items you plan to store.
• If you have a large pickup truck or SUV, make sure your shelving or cabinets don’t obstruct the doors

Save on energy costs during the winter or summer by replacing old doors. Front doors, back doors, or even a side access door to your garage can be a big energy waster. Keeping the cold air out and the warm air in during the winter months helps to keep the heating bills down. This also works during the summer months which here in Las Vegas can average 95 to 105 degrees for a few months. Also, the extreme desert heat we have here in the southwest causes the rubber around the doors to crack and peel. Replacing that also helps save on energy. Replacing the door to keep the heat out and the cool air in is a good idea and also a ‘Green’ idea. So replace that door with a energy efficient one, and improve the look of your home while increasing your energy savings!
